Update on the health of Metropolitan Maximos

His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos is progressing as expected. He has moved
to a rehabilitation center in the Pittsburgh area, for rehab and therapy.
In speaking with him yesterday, and telling him of all of the calls and
well-wishes, he expressed his love for each of you who are concerned. He is
anxious to get back to his work, yet he remains patient during his recovery.

We will be clearing His Eminence's schedule of all events through the end of
September, and we will assess the situation again in two weeks, to see how
his October schedule will be modified.

Visitors are still restricted at this time.

Below is an article from Saturday's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Metropolitan Maximos recovering

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Metropolitan Maximos of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Pittsburgh is steadily
recovering from a head injury he received Friday when he fell down the
stairs at his office.

"All of the prayers have been working," said Linda Hages, his niece, who was
with her 70-year-old uncle in his room at UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland. She
anticipates a full recovery.

"We're communicating, and he's talking about his work," she said, noting
that his sense of humor was unimpaired.

"He told me today over lunch that if you want to go on a diet, come to the
hospital."

Maximos is not receiving visitors, and will go to at a rehabilitation center
when he leaves the hospital, she said. Well-wishers can send cards to his
office at 5201 Ellsworth Ave., Pittsburgh 15232.
