November 2023 NMC Update

CONSTRUCTION REPORT

Construction has been progressing as we encounter our first delay.  As excavating continues, we have discovered a small section of unstable soils in the area of the elevator.  With testing and consulting our geotechnical experts, we have developed remediation processes (deeply backfilling with compactable clay soils) for ensuring sufficient and substantial soil compaction which is being tested throughout the work.  Much of the site has been approved through additional proactive soil testing at these depths and block walls are being erected in those areas as well as the bell tower.  We are still hopeful that we will be able to have the building sufficiently enclosed before the white stuff hits.  So far, the weather has been fully cooperating.

FUNDRAISING

We will continue to visit individuals, parish councils and general assemblies, spreading the word of our new home.  In this month we have received additional parish pledges.  So far, we have visited these parishes, either for a General Assembly presentation or to meet with parish councils:

Holy Trinity, Camp Hill, PA ($100,000 pledge)
St. Nicholas, Bethlehem, PA
Annunciation, Akron, OH ($20,000)
Annunciation, Lancaster, PA ($50,000 – NEW)
Sts. Constantine & Helen, Reading, PA
Sts. Constantine & Helen, Cleveland Heights, OH
St. Haralambos, Canton, OH
Holy Trinity, Canton, OH
St. Demetrios, Rocky River, OH
Annunciation, Columbus, OH ($50,000 – NEW)
Holy Cross, Pittsburgh, PA ($100,000)
St. Paul, North Royalton, OH
St. John the Divine, Wheeling, WV

We have appointments for another 2-3 parishes before the year is out and hoping for as many again at the beginning of next year.  We hope to have as many parishes as possible listed as supporters in the lobby of the new center.  Don’t be left out!  As more and more of your folks get invited to the new center, they will look for the name of your parish.  Let’s make sure they are not disappointed but proud to be a part of our larger Christ based family!

As I always will, I ask that you seriously consider a pledge, or raising your pledge, or pre-paying your pledge so that we AVOID ANY DEBT!  We will continue fundraising until we are there!  Please help us such that this new home of work and worship and gathering and fellowship is only ever a blessing AND NEVER A BURDEN to our church.  Please help.
