Earthquake Relief Fund

The National Philoptochos has established the Turkey and Syria Earthquake Relief Fund to aid the victims of the devastation that occurred in the region this past week. They are urging all Philoptochos chapters across the country to give generously to aid the victims of this disaster.

The Executive Board of the National Philoptochos unanimously voted to disburse $50,000 to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Earthquake Relief Fund. These funds come from the National Philoptochos Emergency Fund, which enables the Philoptochos Society to immediately respond to those in need in times of national or international crisis. Fund disbursement will be directed to those impacted by the devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria with over 20,000 lives lost and hundreds of thousands left homeless.

Please keep the victims, their families and loved ones in your prayers and please be as generous as possible. Donations can be made online: https://ppay.co/-N5VYeUg5JI. Checks may also be sent to the National Philoptochos Society, 126 East 37th Street, New York, NY 10016 in the memo stating, “Turkey and Syria Earthquake Relief Fund.”  Please give generously as a chapter and also encourage your members and fellow parishioners to do the same. I can’t even begin to imagine the widespread devastation and loss of life. The people of Turkey need not only our prayers, but our financial assistance as well.

Our Metropolis of Pittsburgh Philoptochos Board will disburse $5,000 from our Metropolis Emergency Fund to aid the victims of this disaster.

“When Philoptochos sees pain and suffering, we strive to offer comfort.  When Philoptochos sees despair, we seek to offer hope.”

Thank you in advance for your chapter’s donation and for helping to urge others to give generously.
