This new Metropolis Center will continue to serve the Greek Orthodox parishes and communities of Eastern and Central Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia today, and for generations to come. The mission of the new Metropolis Center will be a place to worship, to educate, to gather, to enable ministry, and much more.

When it opens in 2024 the new Metropolis Center will offer the faithful a 15,000 sq ft building incorporating a Church, library/conference room, dedicated offices for the Metropolis staff, a multi-purpose hall, a fully equipped caterer’s kitchen, and an outdoor terrace to enjoy in the warmer months.

We are eternally grateful to our major donors, especially Peter Giorgi. Through the Giorgi Family Foundation, the new Metropolis Center received a transformational gift – a gift of significance and lasting impact. The Giorgi family of Reading, PA, has committed $6 million over five years – the single largest donation ever offered by the foundation. “We know this transformational gift from the Giorgi Family Foundation will have a meaningful impact on the people and parishes of the Metropolis of Pittsburgh for generations to come,” said Peter F. Giorgi, President of The Giorgi Family Foundation. “The ministries of the Metropolis and its parishes profoundly affect the lives of all those served by the Church, and we are pleased to partner with the Metropolis to build its capacity to stand as an even greater presence in our communities. “

The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh is an ecclesiastical district of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, an eparchy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople serving the people of West Virginia, Eastern and Central Ohio, and Pennsylvania (except for the 5 counties of the Greater Philadelphia area) - an area with a population of approximately 18 million residents. It is comprised of 50 parishes, 2 missions, 3 monastic communities, and many vibrant ministries supported by our dedicated volunteers and staff - all overseen from our current historic home of 60+ years in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood.
